Ever since the University of Pau and the Adour Region was created, the public authorities have invested great effort to ensure its success.

The cities of Pau, Bayonne, Anglet, Mont-de-Marsan and Tarbes, metropolitan areas of Pau-Pyrénées, Bayonne-Anglet-Biarritz, Grand TarbesLacq, and the Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées

Regional Councils are active partners that support the university's projects, not only in the upkeep and development of buildings and grounds but also in promoting scientific research, transfer of technology, and actions to help students achieve academic success and a smooth transition into professional life.

In the Aquitaine region's academic environment, UPPA is a member of ComUEA, the Community of Universities and Higher Education Establishments in Aquitaine.

As regards scientific research, the university has joined forces with the CNRS, INRA, INRIA, and IFREMER, particularly in the context of teams involved in mixed research, or project teams.

Beyond the Pyrenees, UPPA has been pursuing special cross-border cooperative actions for a number of years, especially with the universities of Saragosse, Pampelune and the Pays basque.

It has more than 80 inter-university cooperation agreements worldwide.

As UPPA is convinced that a country's social and economic development and its capacities to innovate are largely dependent on the links that exist between research and the corporate world, it sets great store by knowledge transfer. This ambition, clearly visible right from UPPA's beginnings, has resulted in long-standing links with large industrial groups such as Total and Turbomeca, and also with other companies, particularly SME, in the Adour region.
