Academic organization of the UPPA

In 2017, the University of Pau and Adour Lands (Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, UPPA) reorganized ten pre-existing components into three Colleges:

  1. The College of Sciences and Technology for Energy and the Environment (STEE)
  2. The College of Social Sciences and the Humanities (SSH)
  3. The College of Cross-border, European & International Studies (EEI)

The three Colleges represent a new level of governance and decision-making in terms of teaching, research and innovation; they play a role in the elaboration of the university’s policy. This policy is defined by the university’s board of directors, whose task it is to establish a multi-year contract of objectives and resources enabling efficient implementation of the policy.

Each College is composed of two multi-disciplinary Levels: one for Undergraduate Studies, one for Graduate Studies, Research and Innovation.

The Undergraduate Studies Level includes Licence (bachelor) studies and the Institutes of Technology (IUTs). The objective at this Level is for the University to fulfill its public service mission by meeting the higher education needs of the surrounding areas through the recruitment of primarily local students.

Included in the Graduate Studies Level are the Engineering schools, the IAE University School of Management, the research units, the doctoral schools and an Instrument Service Center. At the Graduate Studies Level, the UPPA recruits nationally and internationally.
Associate professors and professors recruited by the Colleges are expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The Colleges are made up of the following departments, research units, and services.
