Personal data
Data is considered personal when it can be used to identify individuals directly or indirectly (e.g. name, vehicle registration number, telephone number, photograph, biometric elements such as fingerprints, DNA, National Student Identification Number (INE), set of information that can be used to discriminate a person within a population (certain statistical files) such as, for example, place of residence and occupation and sex and age,....).
This may be information that is not associated with a person's name, but which makes it easy to identify them and find out about their habits or tastes.

Processing of personal data
The processing of personal data includes any operation or set of operations which relates to such data, regardless of the process used, and in particular collection, recording, organisation, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, blocking, erasure or destruction.
Protection of personal data
As part of its activities and in order to ensure its smooth running, the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour (UPPA) or one of its components is required to collect and process personal data relating to students, staff and any person with whom it is in contact (partners, service providers, library readers, etc.).
Thus, UPPA or one of its components is likely to collect your personal data in particular when:
- you are browsing the univ-pau.fr domain,
- you fill in a form on one of our sites,
- you subscribe to one of our newsletters
- or you contact us, for example.
This data is used to respond to your requests, to inform you of news from UPPA or one of its components or to process the forms you have filled in.
The General Data Protection Regulation (RGPD), adopted in 2016 and implemented since 25 May 2018 in every member country of the European Union, reinforces the French Data Protection Act of 6 January 1978 as amended.
UPPA has appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO). He or she is responsible for assisting the staff and students of UPPA or one of its components in complying with regulations on the protection of personal data: processing and free circulation of this data.
Information relating to UPPA's external communication
UPPA, located at Avenue de l'Université BP 576 - 64012 PAU CEDEX, represented by its presidency, is responsible for processing in relation to external communication activities.
UPPA's communications department, in collaboration with the editorial managers of the internal components, administers and manages various media (digital and paper) for publishing its information. Some media are publicly accessible (for example, the www.univ-pau.fr website or the public page of the social networks).
The legal basis used by UPPA for these actions is legitimate interest.
Subscription to the newsletters ‘la Lettre de l'UPP@’ and ‘la Lettre d'info UNITA-UPPA’ is by consent. In addition, subscribers to mailing lists may unsubscribe at any time and unconditionally, except for mailing lists relating to internal operations. In addition, an image rights form is available to all persons concerned by photos, videos and podcasts.
These activities constitute processing of personal data. In accordance with Articles 12 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, UPPA informs you of the following:
Concerning the public :
- for specific registrations via form: basic identity (surname, first name, email address).
Concerning the people presented on the media (editorial):
- professional identity (surname, first name, e-mail address, etc.),
- images and sounds used in accordance with the transfer of rights granted by the persons concerned,
- content data that depends on the editorial elements made available on the publishing media (for example, the professional function of individuals, pre-university and university courses, training or professional history, elements of professional mobility, recruitment, a project file, etc.).
For directors :
- professional identity: surname, first name,
- their position
- their qualifications,
This data is collected to enableUPPAto carry out its external communication activities:
- sending newsletters,
- publication onUPPA websites - updating content,
- management of image rights (for example, photos on brochures),
- print and multimedia publications (welcome screens, log-in backgrounds, brochures, flyers, etc.),
Data that is made public is accessible to the general public (on the Internet) in accordance with the conditions governing access to services.
The recipients of the data are :
- the public accessing the websites and print media,
- UPPA staff/students,
- the press
- website administrators.
- UPPA's secure information system: central authentication system (CAS) with secure login and password
- Free https access with firewall and antivirus environment on UPPA's DN servers
- Website administration reserved for authorised and trained personnel.
- The websites are hosted byUPPA
- Hosting administration: administrators limited to the communications department and contributors to satellite sites,
- Administration of social networks: administrators limited to the communications department.
The contributors to the satellite sites are trained and made aware of the complexity and annual renewal of passwords.
You have the right :
