A teacher from Navarre immersed in the UPPAAn experience focused on exchange

As part of the close ties between the University of Pau and the Pays de l'Adour (UPPA) and the Public University of Navarre (UPNA), Edurne Goñi-Alsúa, a teacher, was welcomed to the Department of Applied Foreign Languages (LEA) in Pau. Invited by Blandine Daguerre, senior lecturer in Spanish, she came to present her work on audiovisual translation for educational purposes and to talk with Master's students, in a spirit of sharing experiences and cultural openness.
Testimony
My name is Edurne Goñi-Alsúa, and I am an assistant teacher at the Public University of Navarre (UPNA). Thanks to the invitation from Professor Madame Blandine Daguerre, I had the honour of presenting my research topic, Didactic Audiovisual Translation, in two different classes, and spoke about the Spanish education system in another. First, I showed how to use audiovisual translation to teach the second language in the second-year Master's class in Translation, Terminology and Trilingual Documentation in the Department of Applied Foreign Languages (LEA), and in the Spanish class for first- and second-year Master's students in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) with Professor Puerto Gómez. Students could feel the difficulty of audio-describing a short clip and practised the didactic aspect of that clip. On the other hand, I explained the Spanish education system to the first-year Master's students in FLE with Professor Françoise Hapel. All three sessions were very interesting, as the students were very attentive and participatory. Later, the professors told me that the students enjoyed both the subject matter and the activities they did.
I can only thank everyone, from the professors to the students, for their warm welcome, interest, involvement and participation. It has truly been a wonderful experience, both personally and professionally. I hope this is the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between both universities, UPPA and UPNA.
Promising exchanges for the future
This visit is part of the ongoing cooperation between UPPA and UPNA, which are increasing their joint initiatives in research and education.
The shared enthusiasm of teachers and students bodes well for future joint projects that will promote innovation and intercultural dialogue.
