Studying with UNITA

One of UNITA's main areas of focus is the development and implementation of innovative shared labels and learning tools aimed at building personalised, multilingual and international study programmes. The aim is to strengthen the internationalisation of study programmes and develop a UNITA offering, open to a wide audience, in the field of lifelong learning and training.
Transforming learning through programme innovation
The internationalisation and personalisation of study programmes are encouraged and facilitated by the design and implementation of four specific tools:
- UNITA ‘à la carte’: training courses based on UNITA values are developed and integrated into existing programmes, thus facilitating their automatic recognition. Continuously updated, they constitute the UNITA course map;
- Mobility window: this ‘mobility window’ is a period of mobility (long or short, physical, mixed or virtual) integrated into the study programme and including an agreed set of learning activities fully recognised by partner universities;
- UNITA label: In line with the European strategy on the European University Label, the UNITA label will certify participation and learning outcomes in UNITA courses and activities. Based on a common set of criteria, it will be awarded as a certificate complementary to students' qualifications.
- Joint degrees: Courses (existing or designed within the framework of the alliance) that meet the requirements of the UNITA label will be integrated into shared degree programmes awarded jointly by the alliance partners.
Developing UNITA's strategy for lifelong learning and training
In order to meet students' emerging needs in terms of flexible study paths and employability, a range of micro-certifications will be offered according to specific award criteria. These micro-certifications will initially be based on existing modules and will gradually incorporate new proposals.
A constantly updated catalogue of UNITA micro-certifications will be available for consultation at all times, enabling students to choose the modules that best suit their profile and training requirements.
Innovating in teaching and learning
In order to improve the quality and innovation of teaching in a European context, the alliance develops and provides innovative tools and skills to teachers. It aims to provide support by offering new teaching methods and also to develop joint projects in the field of educational innovation. It is based on:
- The STEAM approach, using science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics as entry points for skills acquisition. This teaching method aims to foster creativity and innovation in students
- COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning), online teaching involving at least two teachers from two partner universities working together to create a thematic module that fits into an existing course;
- Micro-certifications
- Virtual and physical mobility (BIP)
Open badges will be awarded to teachers in recognition of their participation.
Creating a UNITA inter-university digital campus
In order to facilitate access to new training courses and teaching methods, the alliance has developed the UNITA Virtual Campus, a multilingual, multi-site and multimodal interactive learning environment that integrates an academic information system.
It is accessible to students and staff at member universities, as well as to socio-economic partners in our regions.
It includes all the features from enrolment to certification and also provides online access to materials, connected classrooms, our complete course map, projects and mobility services (mobility4all and European Student Card).
