Business Partnerships

Intense Business Partnerships

Via E2S UPPA, the University of Pau and the Pays de l'Adour is committed to working with numerous public and private partners to meet the environmental challenges ahead.

In 2021, this represents more than 30 companies–from start-ups to large groups and SMEs–, 5 public institutions and 8 local authorities.

Research and innovation

Doctoral studies, scientific challenges, hubs, joint laboratories... Whether the project be small or large, short or medium term, with one or more objectives, all types of research can be carried out in partnership with local players.

Focus on hubs

Hubs are project-teams created on themes emblematic of research excellence within E2S UPPA. Generally multidisciplinary, each hub brings together about 6 researchers over a period of 5 years, in partnership with at least one company and/or local authority.

The team has 6 doctoral contracts, about 20 post-doctoral contracts (1-year duration), a contribution to operating expenses and administrative support.

Placed in the hands of the most creative researchers, hubs affirm the leadership of E2S UPPA in the fields of energy and environment.

Research Chairs

Chairs are built around a prominent scientist who focuses on a particular topic. Whether they are “junior”, “senior,” or international, chairs are generally set up in partnership with one or more companies or local authorities.

Technology transfer and commercialization

Technology transfer makes the results of research operational or marketable. They will be transformed into a product that will be patented (maturation phase) and used in an industrial context. This can lead to the creation of a company.

Alongside the University of Bordeaux, the CNRS, Bordeaux INP and INSERM, UPPA is a shareholder in Aquitaine Science Transfert, a technology transfer acceleration company (SATT). This company assists researchers in protecting their results and creating innovative companies.

Training

Most of the master's programs at the University of Pau and the Pays de l’Adour are offered on a cooperative basis with companies. The aim is to improve the professional integration of students.

Our partners are also present in the improvement councils, consultative bodies that aim to enhance UPPA's training programs and better meet the needs of companies.

Resource center

The UPPA Tech instrumental services center provides our partners with its 18 high-level technical platforms and trains their employees in state-of-the-art technologies.

UPPA Tech is a showcase of our know-how and is pursuing its deployment with a concerted strategy of investment in research equipment.

Internal organization

To meet these challenges, a committee bringing together the partnership players of the university has been created. Called “Convergence”, this committee meets every two weeks to share information about our partners. Its objective is to improve internal coordination and the readability of the E2S UPPA offer to the outside world.

UPPA Entreprises is the university body that centralizes partnerships. It is the entry point for companies in the UPPA world. The aim is to simplify the procedures for our partners.

Finally, the UPPA business club, the CEPyA, aims to boost exchanges between companies and the university, in the form of workshops, webinars, etc.
